James

6-Tuesday, November 20, 1979

As a student of names
I’ve concludent that James,
In a singular way, is a fraud.
And I back my inferral
By the fack it’s not plural
Yet it ends in an ess, which is odd.

If this were the ess of
The plural possessive,
Then a swirl apostrophic there’d be,
But an absence of swirl
Means it can't be a plirl -
And the name is aposteraphree.

What is that that you stammer?
It’s the fault of your grammar?
That poor woman can not be to blame!
James, your claim's so outrageous,
I could go on for pageous
And from now on I’m calling you Jame.
