Danny

Predicted Thoughtful Reaction of the Cousins to Another Cousin’s Predicament

If Danny on his fanny were, perchance, somehow to fall
They’d not in either thought or fact let out a giggle small.
They wouldn’t find it funny, or indulge in belly laughter.
Or, helpless, thrash about the ground for half an hour after.
And though you’re lying low, they’d make you feel you’re standing tall.
(Perhaps, in fact, they’d lapse a bit and giggle after all.)
But falling down and crawling, helpless—that they’d never do
(On second thought, I reckon that they’d maybe do that too.)
